Today’s Descendant: Sara Jane

Salt and Katie, from Salt and the Sea Venture, were some of the first English cats to settle in the New World. If you have a cat, it is probably a descendant of Salt and Katie.

Today’s descendant is named Sara Jane. She really looks a lot like her great-great ancestor Katie, who also a black and white tuxedo.

She has those beautiful gold eyes, and that sweet black spot that comes down over her nose.

She currently lives at Wayside Waifs in Kansas City, MO, but what she really wants is a permanent home.

Sara Jane is about 4 1/2 years old. She can be shy at first (she’s a cat afterall.) But she warms up quickly and is looking for a companion or companions she can sit next to and snuggle up with.

If you are looking for a cat and live near KC, think about Sara Jane. If you don’t live near KC, think about adopting a cat from your local shelter. They will thank you with love and cuddles for the rest of their lives.

Do you have a cat? If so, your cat is probably a descendant of Salt and Katie. After all, they lived over 400 years ago.  If you’d like your cat to be featured on the blog, send me their picture and some info. I’ll feature your cat, and as a bonus tell my audience about you too!

I look forward to hearing from you.

About mgill0627

I've always been a story teller. This made for some interesting missing homework and late for curfew tales. But I've never had a head for the pedantic rules of grammar and spelling. This made for some interesting comma placement and spelling choices. About ten years ago I decided to figure out how to share my stories, in spite of my shortcomings. I'm lucky to have great colleagues who can help me with the fine details. My favorite class in school was American History. The Colonial Cat's series gives me a chance to write about the great history of the United States and cats!

Anyone who blogs about cats is right up my alley. I have had cats since I was just a sprout. They are marvelous creatures, tricksy, but wonderful. Thank you for following my blog!
